Wii Release for UK-AU

Wii launch details in Europe and Australia revealed

At a press conference in London, Nintendo has officially announced that the Wii will launch in Europe on December 8 at a price of €249 and £179 in the UK. The official pricing is not quite in line with Nintendo's original claim that the UK price would be similar to the US price -- Europeans will pay the equivalent of $315, with the UK price being priced at the equivalent of $336. Australians hoping to pick up a Wii will have to pay slightly less than Europe when the console hits on December 7 at a price of $399AUS, or approximately $299US. The European console bundle will include a white Wii console, one Wii remote, one Nunchuck, Wii Sports, and games will be priced between €49 and €59 or between £34 and £39 in the UK -- which works out at around $62 to $73.

EA intros new game

Well here's some info on a new game EA will be releasing to probably go against Tony Hawk's Project 8. According to EA's press release, the game will be released next year for the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game will feature well-known professionals and hopes to deliver the most realistic skating experience yet.
Well, we'll have to wait for some screenshots!
If you really want to know more information, here's the press release for you!:

EA ANNOUNCES SKATE FOR PLAYSTATION 3 AND XBOX 360
New IP from EA Black Box Delivers the Most Authentic Skateboard Videogame Experience

CHERTSEY, UK. – September 19, 2006 – The closest thing to being on a skateboard, Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS) announced today that SKATE will be released for the PlayStation®3 system and the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system in 2007. SKATE will deliver the feel of skating through innovative controls, authentic cameras and a fully reactive skateboarding city. The game features professional skaters such as Danny Way and PJ Ladd, as well as a reactive city and relevant in-game cameras that capture and deliver the most authentic skateboard videogame experience to date.

“Our game offers a skate mecca for both skaters and gamers in search of the definitive authentic skating video game experience,” said Scott Blackwood, executive producer, EA Black Box. “We’re focused on capturing the actual feeling of skating with the innovative control system, the physics driven animations, the intelligent cameras working together to really deliver the closest thing to being on a board.”

SKATE’s unique control scheme captures the true feel of skating versus the typical button mashing gameplay of past skating games. Featuring physics-driven animations, gamers will have a unique gaming experience every time they pick up the controller since no two tricks will ever be the same.

Developed by EA Black Box in Vancouver, British Columbia, SKATE will deliver all the style, fun, creativity and culture of skateboarding without the countless hours of practice, broken bones and hospital visits. SKATE has not yet been rated by PEGI or USK.

Microsoft is about to Bring it back home!

If you had an Xbox 360 around E3 time this year, you may have heard about Xbox’s Bringing it home campaign. Well, they’re doing it again for the upcoming X06 and Tokyo Game Show events this month. • Europe Wii Release details!

Well, this post may be a bit late in the day but as some of you may know, the press conference that was held by nintendo somewhere in east london revealed the finalised date and price of the Wii.
Priced at £179, the Wii will be released on the 8th of December (plenty of time before christmas!) in a bundle pack with:
    1 Wii Remote
    1 "Nunchuk" attachment
    1 Sensor Bar
    1 Sensor Bar Stand
    1 Console Stand
    And,
    Wii Sports!
Nintendo of Europe also revealed today that the games released for Wii will be region-locked and not region free as other nintendo representatives may have "revealed" earlier in the week.
Well, can you wait until the 8th of December?

    Mario in London!

Today at the flagship GAME store on london's oxford street, many fans, including half of the Magnet Play team (myself) , were queing up outside wating for 12:00 to meet the voice behind mario, Charles martinet who was arriving for a meet-and greet to accompany the Wii announcement that was being made on the other side of the city. After the crowd had been herded into the store by several staff members, the 18 lucky ones at the front of the queue were given free copies of Mario's most recent apperance, New Super Mario Bros for Nintendo DS. The less lucky ten fans after (who i was a part of) were given mario or 1up mushroom T-shirts. There was actually one guy in front of me who left after he recieved his freebie. He didn't even wait to talk to Mr.Martinet

Then, the man everybody was waiting for arrived and proceeded to the desk that was set up for him where he then talked to fans individually and autographed postcards for everyone there. Several people had even brought in stuff for him to sign for them. He was very sociable and was happy to take photos [See above piccy] and "do the mario voice" for his fans. I had my freebie T-shirt and original DS (phat) signed. Now i have a reason to hang on to it!
